Mental Care During The Pandemic

2020 and 2021 have been hard for everyone physically, financially, emotionally and, mentally. We have been staying home for almost a year and a half due to the pandemic that is happening all around the world. Everything in our life has changed, we no longer can hug each other, we can’t go out to eat at those cute cafes and we are no longer able to travel to different states or countries. Everything is held online in the comfort and safety of our home whether it is school or work.

After a long time staying home and the world seems like it is not getting better, our mental health can be affected by that. Not being able to do our normal daily tasks can affect our mental health. Here are some tips that you can take into consideration for your own mental care. 

  1. Creates a routine

Even though we are staying home most of the day, it is good for us to have a daily routine that will keep us going and something to remind us that time is still moving forward. Wake up at the same time every morning and make the best simple breakfast for you and in the afternoon after finishing all of your tasks you can relax a bit maybe by watching a movie or listening to your favorite podcast. Your routine doesn’t have to be anything big, just something to get you to keep moving forward is good enough. 

  1. Move your body 

Despite staying home every day, it doesn’t mean you can be a couch potato. Maybe this is the time for you to achieve the body goals you have been aiming for since last year. You can try to do simple stretching or even a yoga pose. You can just simply follow all of those exercise tutorials on Youtube. It’s important for you to stay healthy and to keep the blood flows. 

  1. Try Something New

This is the time for you to try that recipe you have been saving, or maybe this is the time for you to learn how to knit a sweater. Whatever it is, try something new to keep you busy. Something that you will enjoy whether it is baking, knitting, or even painting. Keeping your mind distracted is important so that you will not be anxious or depressed when you are thinking of the situation of the world nowadays. 

  1. Keep In Touch 

Today’s modern technologies are allowing us to keep in touch with our loved ones despite the distance. Contact them once in a while to ask about their well-being and communicate with the outside world. You are staying home and not meeting other people and that is why it is important to stay in touch, you will need that human contact to keep you sane. 

This pandemic has been hard for everyone, the least we can do to help is by staying home and follow all of the precautions that have been ruled out by the authorities.
